The draft Act for the prevention and suppression of the financing of terrorism  Legislative Proposal No. 2839 from the Legislative Directorate has not yet been approved by the Congress of the Republic.

Proposal on the form in which the legislative provisions on interim measures and preliminary orders could be presented in the Model Law

The Committee further recommends that, as a consequence, any action requiring legislative approval not go forward until the new budget proposal has been acted upon.

Following the visit by Ms. Quentin Baxter in May 2003, at which time there were also ongoing negotiations with a visiting team from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a revised proposal was put forward, which, based on the 2002 proposal, included the election of all members of the Legislative Assembly by an island wide vote and the election of the Chief Minister by members of the Legislative Assembly only.

Further to the formulation of two European directives in the area of emancipation, a legislative proposal to include a ban on harassment in the Equal Treatment Act was submitted to Parliament.

To facilitate the resumption of discussions, this note contains a proposal on the form in which the legislative provisions on interim measures and preliminary orders could be presented in the Model Law.

The following text sets out a proposal as to the presentation of the draft legislative provisions on interim measures and preliminary orders, recognition and enforcement of interim measures and court ordered interim measures.

Still with respect to legislative reforms, the Federal Executive presented a proposal for a draft bill that deals with domestic and family violence against women, described in the considerations of Article 6 of the Convention.

Previously, the parliament s legislative committee received a proposal to lower the age of marriage for girls from 18 years to 12. Needless to say, this would cut short girls education, not to mention other harmful implications.

To this end, a Tripartite Commission, with representatives from the executive and legislative powers, and civil society, was established in order to discuss the subject and draft a proposal to revise the punitive legislation on abortion.
