The seminar was a side event of UNESCO s Intergovernmental Conference on Cultural Policies for Development, held in Stockholm from 30 March to 2 April 1998.

51. The Committee encouraged Member States, intergovernmental bodies and regional and other major groupings to consider increasing their use of the conference facilities at Nairobi.

The results of the conference will thus form an important input into the first intergovernmental meeting of experts on El Niño (see sect. V below).

Intergovernmental processes

It is anticipated that the International Conference on Chemicals Management, having adopted SAICM, will refer it to the governing bodies of relevant intergovernmental organizations for consideration.

This will be followed by a report on the achievements of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee since the Conference of Plenipotentiaries adopted the Convention in May 2001.

The Conference approved the Personnel Regulations together with its annexes as amended by the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts (IGWGE) set up by the 33rd PFC.
