At its forty fourth session, the Committee for Programme and Coordination requested OIOS to include, in future in depth and thematic evaluations as well as in triennial reviews, a brief section on questions in which intergovernmental guidance and follow up, by the Committee or other appropriate intergovernmental bodies, would be useful.

6. Urges those intergovernmental bodies effectively to review the relevant recommendations on evaluation to facilitate their consideration by the Fifth Committee

The Committee is deeply appreciative of the involvement in those meetings of Governments, intergovernmental organizations, United Nations entities and civil society.

An observer for WIPO reported on the future direction of the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC).

WMO continues to cooperate with Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting, Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programmes and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.

The Advisory Committee was informed that the Executive Director's overall decision making process would benefit from access to a formal or informal intergovernmental consultative body.

Intergovernmental and Conference Affairs (ICA) coordinates the secretariat's support to the intergovernmental process.

Furthermore, the Under Secretary General is responsible for the direction of committee liaison functions performed by the Department, with regard to both intergovernmental bodies, such as the Committee on Information, and the United Nations Communications Group.
